Sketch Noches Dos!!!! Muyahahahaha

I’m not sure about the title … but what I am sure of is that some creative people came over and we created. I wanted to see sketch night again, I had fun the first time at Oran Parkers place and thought to continue this.  I hosted it in my backyard studio which ended up fitting 6 people and a warm blooded subject.  My brother, James graciously volunteered as the subject of our project… or maybe I made him do it, i don’t remember.  He was a good sport… when he first showed up he pulled me aside, “I thought there was going to be like… 2 people” that’s his sense of humor. James brought his katana and I had brought a nerf pistol as props.  We ended up using the gun as the main weapon of choice. It was a good night, I hope everyone got to push their limits a little bit and reach out of their comfort zones when it comes to drawing and coloring.

Those in attendance (and thanks for coming): Chris Bacarisse, Oran Parker, Lilly Parker, Thom Trahan, Jason Gillen, and my bro James Jessen.

The project:  Take 3 various poses and arrange them on the same page to develop something that resembled a comic cover.  The first pose was the “aggressor”, the second – “the victim”, and the third “the close-up”.

Woops!…. Sweet!

So I thought I’d work on a new entry for my moleskine… I wanted to do some sort of fight scene between some super dudes. I started sketching the flash and was going to get some help from friends to figure out who the villian should be. Thirty minutes later I thought of a drawing that I’ve been wanting to work on… The hellhound from supernatural that you never get to see. I just finished season 3 and dean gets what’s his by the claws of a hellhound. It leaves a lot to my imagination to fill in the visual gaps. I gave it a shot on the next page of my moleskine and before I knew it a quick sketch started to turn into a full blown finished piece. I covered it with copic red and that was the killing blow to the flash piece on the reverse side. It might be salvaged with Photoshop magic or I might try it again on another page. In the end I was pretty upset I lost something that could have been, but I also made something that was and will be… Whoa that’s deep.
